Studio owner and freelance mixing/recording engineer Rogan Paul

Rogan Paul (Randy Randerson) - Head Engineer, Owner, Manager, and "Evil Mastermind"

Rogan is the driving force behind Stackyard Studios, building it from the ground up and is responsible for everything the studio has produced thus far. Their journey to establish Stackyard was sparked by a fascination with making music and studio equipment, combined with dissatisfaction with early band recordings and studio experiences. With unwavering belief, a DIY attitude, and a touch of stubbornness, Stackyard was born. The studio and music production quickly became Rogan's all-consuming obsession, accumulating thousands of studio hours, gaining experience in engineering, production, photography, and video work, and building an impressive portfolio.

As a musician, Rogan strives to work with the artist in mind, championing experimentation, open-mindedness, and self-expression.

"I love so much music across all genres and always want to create something that feels real. Even while technically amazing, I find much music today often lacks a bit of life and authenticity. Don't get me wrong, I'm not so jaded as to claim everything was better in the "good ol' days". Modern technology is an incredible tool, and I wouldn't be where I am without it. Still, I've always been a huge fan of old-school recording methods, with musicians playing together in a room—the kind that almost transports you back to the recording as if you're in the room with the band. Most of my work is based on this philosophy. Ultimately, I see my role as capturing the band's sound in the room, ensuring everything is right at the source, rather than later creating a sound that feels inauthentic. When I first started recording as a musician, I was left disappointed by going into the studio full of excitement, seeing all this incredible gear, and building up our song piece by piece, only to end up with something that was underwhelming and didn't sound like the band (for better or worse).

I built Stackyard to counter the idea of a stuffy and sterile recording experience. I wanted to create a place where you could get a bit of that big studio experience while being in a relaxed, artist-friendly environment accessible to anybody to make amazing music. It's no mean task, but I hate to be told something isn't possible. I think I've done all right, but ultimately, I'll let you be the judge."

If you want to work with me but have a vision beyond Stackyard, I'm all ears. Whether it's another studio or a more unconventional location, I'm always open to exploring new creative spaces. I've recorded in some interesting places so far, and I always love to get out into the world, so let me know your ideas, however crazy, and let's make it happen.
